Introduction

In this blog, the collaborative group of Materials Design for Virtual Environments will present a variety of technological tools that can help students and teachers in the teaching-learning process. Each member will give a brief description of the same to know characteristics, use and importance in teaching and propose activities and exercises for the achievement of educational objectives.Currently, teachers and students recognize the importance and need to implement tools that improve educational practices.

Web 2.0 tool Wix tool

Wix tool- Wix
By: Lendys Osorio

It is a platform in which we can create websites with different purposes helping users in their specific needs. This tool is useful for publishing topics of interest. Their pages can have professional appearances, which can be updated and edited.

What does Wix offer us?
-Lowest technical knowledge
-High compatibility between sites and search engines (100%)
-Great variety of templates, but also can design your own presentation.
-In wix, web pages are free.
- Premium plans that give users access to extra features such as connecting a domain name, removing Wix advertising and getting more storage and bandwidth.

How would you use the Wix tool to teach and what innovative applications would you use in it?

It would be used to teach students to practice meaningful writing, listening, speaking and reading skills in the English language through applications containing pictures, videos, and exercise texts. The appearance would be ludic-didactic to generate interest.

What is the importance of using the Wix tool?
It is very important because it offers users the creation of a site where we can provide information about a specific topic and this is beneficial for students and teachers because it is a way to advance and improve teaching-learning and obtain an educational quality with other perspectives.

Web 2.0 tool Blogger

Web 2.0 Blogger

By: Astrid Morelos

The objective with regard to this type of tool is to make known the ease that they have at the moment of accessing a specific type of information stored there, the student will have the possibility to collect the information in an easy, specific way for the purpose to achieve a good performance within the learning area without any setback.
Blogger is a very important tool because it can assume the role of "book" created by the teacher in an easy to understand for the student, in this way the student feels more active and secure in the moment of acquiring knowledge

This tool is very important to use because with the blog the teacher can have a record of the classes or topics and how they have influenced the students, since a blog is intended to be used daily by the teachers, they can keep the classes going with new information, new videos and new pictures for the students. Also, I think that one of the most important facts of why using a blog is important, is motivation. It is proved that students who are motivated by their teachers are most likely to have a better outcome in their learning process. This tool is important for the teachers to keep the students motivated with personal experiences or even sharing the improvements they´ve had.

Web 2.0 tool Webquest

Web 2.0 tool WebquestBy: Luz Estella Martinez

 WEBQUEST FOR VIRTUALENVIRONMENTS

Short presentation of the tool

The Webquest model was developed by Bernie Dodge in 1995 that defined it as a research-oriented activity where all or almost all the information that is used comes from Web resources. This model allows the student to elaborate his / her own knowledge while performing the activity.

The webquest is a didactic resource, which allows the organization of activities for students to construct meaningful learning in an active and autonomous way, taking advantage of the web service on the internet, through webquest increases the motivation of the students, and develops in them attitudes of collaborative work.
Paragraph telling the way you would use the tool for teaching and what innovative appliances can be used in it

Bearing in mind that the Webquest model is a powerful Web 2.0 didactic tool to use in all areas of knowledge of any educational level, resulting in increased student motivation; through the innovation it offers. The best way to use this tool in teaching is through resources offered by the internet, as these allow us to navigate through knowledge, helping through significant tasks in increasing the critical spirit and the ability to draw own conclusions and develop individual thinking in the student; helping the student to become the builder of their own learning.  Through the teaching of any subject in the webquest it can favor the cooperative and responsible learning of learners

The homework

Homework is the most important part of a WebQuest. Since it offers the student a goal and a focus, and concretizes the curriculum intentions of the designer. A task designed in such an innovative and attractive way gives the student the possibility to increase his knowledge and a high motivation to continue building his knowledge

Evaluación

The objective of the WQ is for students to learn, and  to acquire new concepts, procedures and principles,  that to issue judgment, to know how to negotiate meanings and to draw conclusions in a group, to develop strategies for searching, selecting and synthesizing information that they know how to produce writing, graphics, poems, multimedia, etc. But ¿how do you know if they get it? How to evaluatethe quality of the products and the processes necessary to achieve it? "(Adell, 2004: 20)

It is a strategy used by teachers to facilitate the learning of their students which allows students to develop skills to analyze, synthesize, transform, publish and share information. ... They are closely related to the development of competencies for the management of information search.

the main objective of the didactic guide of the WebQuest is to offer the teacher  the necessary information so that it can value the convenience of carrying out the task proposed in the WebQuest.

In this didactic guide we will refer to:1.The area or areas in which you can work with the webquest designed.2.The level of the students to which it is directed and if there is previous knowledge necessary to carry out the task.3.The content treated.4.The competences that students must achieve.5.The time necessary to carry out the task and each of the activities that compose it.

Proceso

In this section we will specify:

The process of developing a webquest consists of five steps: selecting a topic, topic or problem that is of interest to students. From there analyze that problem and decompose it into parts that will constitute the design model. Thirdly, the characteristics of the final product expected to be carried out by the students and the evaluation criteria will be established. Fourthly develop webquests with their online resources. And finally check that all the links work and that the design is understandable by students.
